HYAENA, a metalcore band from Orleans, France was born in 2010.
Founded by Nathan Lourdou (Bass player, songwriter) and Jimmy Couton (Guitar player, songwriter, producer) the pack was joined in 2013 by Virgile Ramache (vocals), Christophe Pilte (2014, drums) and Alex Barthélémy (2015, Guitar player).
Both our first EP “season”(2013) and our first album “Existence”(2017), mixed and mastered by Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, The Contortionist, Scale The Summit...) were composed of progressive metal songs, with many other metal genres influences, from ambient to death metal. Vocals were performed by their former singer Virgile Ramache. It took 3 years to produce this 62 mins of progressive dark ambiances and captivating melodies.
"What this album has that sets it apart from the majority of ‘brutal’ and ‘technical’ progressive metal these days is the atmosphere it conjures up. This is a bleak, vitriolic and ugly album, with a brilliantly dark atmosphere, something which is often missing from death metal these days. Hyaena may have the technique and musicianship, but it’s not the primary focus here. The brooding riffs, the hard-edged, suffocating production courtesy of great Jamie King, acidic vocals, compelling guitar solos and crushing drum barrage combine to produce a sound that’s like no other band." rockingcharts
IJoined lately by Kevin (2018), our new singer, we decide to make a great change in the way we write songs: efficiency is now the key word. We’re about to release our 2nd album (october 2019). We made it catchy, we made it our way... it’s going to be la bagarre... Get ready for it!
